emergency End of year campaign

D

ear friends,

We just closed our 18th Annual Film Festival, and I am filled with immense gratitude for what we were able to accomplish. I’m reminded of what a gift it is to create space to bring communities together for authentic stories, inspiring storytellers, and meaningful connections. It is truly a privilege to serve as a platform for AANHPI creatives and artists.

Thanks to our sponsors, partners, and volunteers, we were able to pull together a memorable festival centered around powerful films, conversation, and culture.

But as we celebrate this moment, we’re also looking honestly at the road ahead.

This year, we saw the defunding of PBS and NPR, the cancellation of grants to arts and culture organizations by the NEH and the NEA, and the elimination of DEI programs by corporations and institutions. PAAFF lost a major corporate sponsor, and we continue to face a highly competitive grant environment. As a result, PAAFF currently has less than six months of operating reserves, a reality that makes our very first Capital Campaign crucial to our survival.

This campaign isn’t just about meeting an urgent need, it’s about ensuring that PAAFF can continue showcasing AANHPI stories year-round through screenings, workshops, artist development, original productions, and community partnerships that deepen our impact.

As the only dedicated Asian film organization in Philadelphia, we know how essential this work is. Your support helps protect a home for our stories that affirm our identities, broaden understanding, and connect generations.

Thank you for being part of this community and for believing in the power of stories.

With gratitude, Nani Shin
Executive Director
