PAAFF is proud to have presented dozens of culturally relevant films and exciting programming to broad and diverse audiences. Organized annually by the Philadelphia Asian American Film & Filmakers, The Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF) is the first event of its kind in Philadelphia. PAAFF a film festival celebrating and elevating the Asian American experience. Since 2008 PAAFF is proud to have presented dozens of culturally relevant films and exciting programming to broad and diverse audiences from Chinatown to Center City to University City.

Why Philadelphia?

Philadelphia has a strong, emerging film industry and one of the largest Asian American populations in the country (over 90,000 Asian Americans in Philadelphia county according to the U.S. Census Bureau, 2010). In 2013, Philadelphia was named one of the Top Cities To Be A Moviemaker. PAAFF works year round to promote and add to the diversity of Philadelphia.

Are your films in the English language and where do they take place?

Our films are primarily in English with some being subtitled and a majority of them take place in America, but are not limited to it.

Do you have to be Asian to submit a film?

We accept films from Asian and non-Asian filmmakers that either feature Asians in lead roles in front of or behind the camera and/or have stories pertaining to Asian Americans.
